Mike Goss Tennis Stadium

Home of K-State Tennis

The New Outdoor Home of K-State Tennis.

Kansas State dedicated the new Mike Goss Tennis Stadium on September 7, 2013, as the ribbon-cutting ceremony put an end to a five-year venture for K-State women's tennis to the Wamego Recreation Complex to play its outdoor home matches.

Mike Goss Tennis Stadium recognizes and honors Goss for his generous gifts and support of K-State Athletics and Kansas State University. Goss is a 1981 graduate of Kansas State, earning an Economics degree from the College of Arts and Sciences and was a member of the varsity men's tennis team from 1978-81.

Goss is a Managing Director for Bain Capital LLC in New York, New York. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Tennis Channel, a 24-hour cable network dedicated to tennis, and is also on the Executive Committee for the International Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport, Rhode Island.

In addition to K-State Athletics, Mike and his wife, Becky, support many other areas of Kansas State University, including scholarships and study abroad opportunities. Mike also serves as a Trustee of the KSU Foundation and is currently a member of the Board of Directors.

Located at the new outdoor facility for the Chester E. Peters K-State Rec Center, Mike Goss Tennis Stadium is part of a $3 million renovation of the outdoor facilities through the collaborative agreement between Kansas State Athletics, the K-State SGA and the K-State Student Rec Center.

The stadium features six outdoor courts, with purple playing surfaces and Powercats dividing the courts. The courts also feature a Musco lighting system, steel benches with K-State welded into the back rests and metal bleachers on the south side of the court with room to accommodate 400 fans.

In addition to the six new tennis courts, the renovated complex features three outdoor basketball courts and two sand volleyball courts. Future phases of the project will include a locker room space for the K-State tennis team, a scoreboard for K-State tennis matches, public restroom, an outdoor equipment rental area and two handball/racquetball courts.

"This year is a revolution for the K-State tennis program," said All-American K-State Tennis senior Petra Niedermayerova. "Manhattan will find out what tennis is all about and I as a tennis player, along with my teammates will be able to enjoy playing in a home facility fighting for K-State in a facility on campus, in a way that we want college athletics to look like. I would like to thank all of the people who took part in this project and a special thanks to Mike Goss, who helped make this dream come true."

K-State has been a huge part of my life. It has made me happy and prosperous. It has been a major contributor to my success and tennis was a big part of my K-State experience. For K-State to name this facility for me, I am absolutely humbled by it. It is a thank you well beyond what is necessary or appropriate but I am glad to see it done, especially while I am still alive.
