Ice Family Basketball Center

Home of Men's and Women's Basketball

A New Era of K-State Basketball.

Thanks to the generosity of K-State donors and fans, a longtime dream was realized on October 5, 2012, when 600-plus former players, donors and friends gathered to dedicate the $18 million Ice Family Basketball Center.

The new permanent home for K-State men's and women's basketball, this facility serves as a major development resource for the teams and individual player growth as well as a recruiting tool that will complement K-State's unparalleled game-day atmosphere and world-class student-athlete experience.

The Ice Family Basketball Center, which was 100 percent privately funded with no tax dollars or university funds used, provides for the daily needs of Wildcat coaches and student-athletes and has amenities that are unsurpassed at a national level.

The completion of the facility is a milestone towards the vision of being a model intercollegiate athletics program, while it is also the cornerstone of providing a world-class student-athlete experience for the men's and women's basketball programs, both of which boast a proud heritage of success.

In recognition of their incredible philanthropic support of K-State Athletics, the facility was named the ‘Ice Family Basketball Center’ in September 2015 in honor of Carl & Mary Ice of Westlake, Texas. The Ice Family’s support has been instrumental in the facility upgrades, both on the university campus and for athletics, which have occurred K-State in recent years.

The building is equipped with two practice courts, coaches' offices, locker rooms for both teams and coaches, player lounges, a theatre-style team film room, a 2,500-square foot weight room, a sports medicine center with a state-of-the-art hydrotherapy facility and an atrium lobby with viewing deck.

The approximately 50,000-square-foot facility was designed by the world-renowned sports architecture firm Populous of Kansas City, Mo., and built by MW Builders, a national construction firm with offices in Manhattan and extensive experience in the state of Kansas, and blends a modern glass and steel structure with the tradition of K-State limestone on the exterior.

BuilDing OUR Vision

Provide a home for our basketball programs

The all-inclusive design of the Ice Family Basketball Center covers every daily facility needs for our men's and women's program coaches and players, resulting in the place where championship teams will come together and be a family.

Provide practice court time and access

Previously, due to a multitude of conflicting events and schedules at Bramlage, our programs were forced to travel off-site for a significant portion of their practice times. This facility provides a private and consistent location for training.

Compete at the highest level

K-State was one of only two schools in the Big 12 without a basketball training facility. In order to compete in the strongest conference in the country, we need to provide our programs with the resources necessary to win.

Enhance our national level recruiting efforts

The BTF is a showcase for our coaches to recruit the best and brightest student-athletes in the country, complementing our incredible game day atmosphere, ideal college town and world-class university experience.

Recruit and retain the best coaches

We're not just competing for student-athletes. In order to recruit and retain the best coaching talent in the country, we need to provide them with highly competitive facilities.

Increase of office and functional space

The BTF offers much needed office space for other athletic department staff and provides a unique location for private recruiting and Athletic Department donor functions.

Capitalize on success

The BTF provides an opportunity for K-State to capture the momentum of on-court success as well as the favorable construction market to capitalize on the moment.

Commit to competing at a national level

Building this facility represents a commitment from our university and athletic department leadership to providing the resources necessary for our basketball programs to win championships.
